Guide Camp

Woodland Trails

It’s time for another adventure into the great outdoors and Spring Camp 2026! This two night much anticipated trip helps Guides to build independence, learn outdoor skills, develop leadership, grow confidence, and forge deeper friendships.

The activities and meals for camp are girl-driven and based off feedback directly from the unit. We will be working with the Guides over the next few weeks to line up the plan before the big event. But activities typically include arts and crafts, hiking, outdoor cooking, building campfires, wide
games, orienteering, and building wilderness skills.

Date: June 5th @ 7:00 PM – June 7th @ 12:00 PM

Location: Woodland Trails Scout Camp – Birchmount Village Site

14919 Kennedy Rd, Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON L4A 4B7

Cost: $100*

* Cost too high? The cost of activities should never be a barrier to your Guide participating in everything Girl Guides has to offer them. Please speak to us at a meeting, there is subsidy at the national and unit level that is available for camp and adventures.

WELCOME TO WOODLAND TRAILS

Woodland Trails is a 120 hectare campsite and wilderness property operated by Scouts Canada near Whitchurch-Stouffville.

The property is made up of several interconnecting campsites of different types; lodges, tabin “villages,” and walk-in only tenting sites. The property also features a few unique sites and amenities, such as a Scouts Canada training center, an indoor campsite made up of old train cars, an archery range, mountain bike rentals, a high ropes course, and a large, amphitheater style campfire pit.

The property only allows camping from Scouts, Girl Guides, and like-minded youth groups, creating an area of security away from the general public and giving youth the freedom to explore the outdoors. While there may be other groups camping the same weekend as us, all the adults present on the property require the same training and vetting as Girl Guide leaders.

Our Guides typically stay in a tabin “village,” as a stepping stone to camping in tents when they are older. Tabins are small, cabin-like structures on wooden platforms with canvas tent style window flaps (pictured above).

This year we have the Birchmount Village site booked. The main sites are accessible by a one-way gravel camp road that travels in a large loop around the property. From the parking lot, turn right when entering the camp. Continue straight until you pass the pool. Birchmount Village is the first driveway on the left.

The property is maintained and monitored by a Camp Ranger designated by Scouts Canada, who will be available for questions and emergencies for the duration of our visit.
